Crystal Show Club explains what is Helsinki Chemicals forum and how the best strip tease in Helsinki will be awaiting at the after party
On June 1st 2007 the European Chemicals Agency was opened in Helsinki. Getting the ECHA to Helsinki had been a multifaceted and complicated process. Even as late as in 2003 the distribution of the various EU agencies across the EU’s wanting and deserving member states had still not been resolved. The European Union was just 10 years old, and as the official Finnish narrative goes, it was seriously struggling to get fully underway due to the time being wasted on all the convoluted and messy negotiations.
We once lived in very different times..
Apparently Günter Verheugen had managed to maneuver the best parking space for his new Audi back in Brusselles (right next to the elevators) and Berlusconi was fuming. The hot blooded Italian leader felt the honor of Italy had been questioned and acting totally out of character refused to behave sensibly. There had been veiled threats of flooding the markets with Italian champagne and appointing Francesco Schettino as the lead Italian negotiator in EU. It was at this time that the Finnish leaders decided to try and offer the Italian leader some appeasement, and offered to accept a compromise when it cam to the locations of the European Food Safety Authority and European Chemicals Agency. In a move of statesmanship not seen since the Finnish leaders conceded the European Food Safety Authority to Parma , Italy in exchange for the European Chemicals Agency to be paced in Helsinki and with an unwritten promise Schettino would not be give the opportunity to work in European Politics. The seasoned German Gerhard Schröder sensed there was great foresight in the Finnish peace offering and understood this was the best way for ward for all European Nations. Later in August 2003, during a busy mandatory wine tasting session in the Austrian alps Mr Schröder teamed up with the newly appointed Finnish prime minister Matti Vanhanen to organize and after party where the deal was finally brokered.
As the players make their moves
And so it was decreed that the ECHA would be placed in Helsinki, about 150 meters from Crystal Show Club, in the building at the time occupied by the grocery store chain Valintatalo And every year the great professionals at ECHA organize (they actually organize many events) the greatest independent forum aimed at promoting chemicals safety the EU has ever seen. Yes you got it, its the Helsinki Chemicals forum, which is built around extremely interesting debates and very high profile speaker and panels. This years event will be held at Messukeskus and organized by the Chemicals Forum Association in co-operation with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), the European Commission, the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC), the Finnish Government with partners including the City of Helsinki, the Chemical Industry Federation of Finland and the University of Helsinki.
It is only fitting that the official unofficial after party will be held at Crystal Show Club, as that’s how Silvio would have wanted it.
