AI can summarise 10,000 leadership books before breakfast. It can analyse a market, draft a strategy and produce a 46-slide presentation explaining why the strategy needs another presentation.
What it cannot do is attend Nordic Business Forum 2026, meet the right person at precisely the wrong coffee machine or have an excellent Thursday night in Helsinki on your behalf.
That gap is what Nordic Business Forum calls The Human Edge.

On 16-17 September 2026, 8,500 leaders, entrepreneurs and senior decision-makers gather at Messukeskus Helsinki to explore decision-making, performance and collaboration in the age of AI. It is the largest Nordic Business Forum yet, and the physical event sold out a full six months in advance.
The stage programme features Oprah Winfrey, Steven Bartlett, Angela Duckworth, Patty McCord, Nando Parrado and speakers with considerably better job titles than the average networking badge can contain.

The Human Edge: A theme with unusually good timing
Nordic Business Forum is asking what remains distinctly human when companies have access to increasingly similar AI tools. Its answer is organised around three capabilities:
- Decision-Making: using judgment when data is incomplete or conflicting
- Performance: maintaining focus, resilience and discipline under pressure
- Collaboration: creating trust and achieving outcomes with other people
Michael Beckley examines growth in a fragmented geopolitical world. Kjell A. Nordström argues that human insight becomes more valuable as AI becomes a commodity. Shawn Kanungo looks at judgment when everybody has the same tools. Angela Duckworth examines environments that improve performance.

Patty McCord, Netflix’s former Chief Talent Officer, discusses why a company should be a team rather than a family. This is useful because families rarely conduct quarterly performance reviews, and when they do, Christmas becomes extremely tense.
Oprah is the closer..
Oprah Winfrey closes the Main Stage programme on Thursday with Heart of Connection. Her session explores intuition, gratitude, values, self-awareness and the kind of authentic human connection that remains difficult to automate.
The timing gives the conference a neat final act:
- 15:25: Oprah takes the stage
- 17:00: Main Stage programme ends
- Afterwards: Dinner, hotel, Helsinki
Oprah is the headline attraction, but Nando Parrado may provide the most literal examination of the Human Edge. After a 1972 plane crash in the Andes, survivors endured 72 days in extreme conditions before Parrado and Roberto Canessa crossed the mountains to find help. His session examines trust and performance under circumstances that make a difficult quarterly target seem manageable.
It is a genuine survival story, not a management acronym introduced by someone who once missed a connecting flight.
The two-day programme without the 46-slide summary
Wednesday focuses on decision-making, AI, geopolitical uncertainty and performance. Michael Beckley begins at 12:15, followed by Kjell A. Nordström, Shawn Kanungo, Rahaf Harfoush and Angela Duckworth. Steven Bartlett closes the day before the 19:15 finish.
Thursday begins early. Paul Polman speaks at 09:30, followed by Alison Wood Brooks, Patty McCord and Nando Parrado. Oprah closes the Main Stage at 17:00, with studio interviews continuing afterwards.
All food and non-alcoholic drinks are included with an in-person ticket. Vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free and gluten-free choices are available.
Collect your badge early and avoid the executive queue
The Southern Entrance to Messukeskus is under construction, which may create slower check-in than regular visitors remember.
The organisers specifically recommend avoiding the Southern Entrance peak on Wednesday 16 September from 10:30 to 11:30. If possible, collect your badge before conference morning:
- Monday 14 September, 11:00-19:00: Scandic Helsinki Hub
- Tuesday 15 September, 08:00-20:00: Scandic Helsinki Hub
- Tuesday 15 September, 17:00-20:00: Helsinki City Hall
Bring your ticket and identification. Collecting a badge early is not glamorous, but neither is beginning a leadership event by studying another leader’s coat for 45 minutes.
Getting to Nordic Business Forum 2026
Messukeskus is beside Pasila railway station, and train is simplest from central Helsinki. From Helsinki Airport, I and P trains run directly to Pasila in roughly 30 minutes. if youa re coming from the city center, its worth pointing out that every train that leaves the Helsinki railway station stops at the Pasila station.
Tram 2 also serves Messukeskus, but its downtown route changed on 31 August 2026. It no longer follows the old Central Railway Station and Mikonkatu route and now runs via Aleksanterinkatu. Check the HSL Journey Planner instead of relying on an old map or a colleague who visited Helsinki once and has been geographically confident ever since.
For international visitors, central Helsinki offers the best balance: an easy train to Pasila and more evening options when the conference ends.
Where the afters then?
Crystal Show Club is not an official Nordic Business Forum afterparty and is not affiliated with NBF. There are events that are open for all badge holders at 2 different city center hotels :
- Scandic Grand Central Helsinki, Vilhonkatu 13, with saxophonist Anton Morozov
- Marski by Scandic, Mannerheimintie 10, with DJ A. Myllykoski
Both events end at 2 AM. Where to go to after requires therefore a separate executive decision. Crystal Show Club is the alternative for guests who want a different atmosphere, or thise who prefer networking with with beautiful dancers instead of executives or are looking for a continuation after the official events close.
Thursday: The closing night you organise yourself
Thursday offers an even cleaner schedule. Oprah closes the Main Stage at 17:00, leaving time for dinner, the hotel and an evening in Helsinki.
NBF has also reserved limited sauna-and-swim sessions at Löyly on both days. The Thursday session runs from 18:30 to 20:30 and is currently fully booked, although cancelled places may appear in Brella.
For those with a place, the sequence is unusually efficient: Oprah, dinner, sauna, then a 20:30 finish. Crystal opens at 21:00. Even an algorithm would struggle to improve that handover.
For everyone else, Thursday is ideal for arranging a closing celebration. No official general afterparty is currently listed, and no agenda invitation needs accepting.
Find your Human Edge after 21:00
Crystal Show Club is located at Lönnrotinkatu 19 in central Helsinki and is open every night from 21:00 to 05:00. Across two floors you will find two stages, a bar, VIP areas and international professional dancers in a welcoming adult nightclub atmosphere.
After two days discussing what humans do better than machines, live entertainment seems more consistent than returning to the hotel to ask AI for twelve key takeaways.
The framework remains reassuringly simple:
- Decision-Making: Choose where the evening continues
- Performance: The international dancers have prepared for this more thoroughly than your panel moderator
- Collaboration: Invite the colleagues who survived 8,500-person networking with their optimism intact
Crystal is easy to reach from central hotels and both official Wednesday party venues. Visit after the conference, or arrive after 02:00 when you have decided to challenge the official closing time.
AI can wait until morning. Your Human Edge has an evening programme.
