While the Finnish summer may be short it isn’t completely non existent. And while 2017 has been arguably one of the worst ever weather wise, sunny days are not completely unheard of.

Should you find yourself in the city on such a sunny day with a couple of hours to spare, here are 4 roof top terraces in the city center that are good for a drink and a offer an opportunity to view the city from the roof top level:

  • A. Bar Cón @ Kamppi shopping center. A stylish tapas bar found at the top level of the big shopping center. Good for drinks and some food, and as its located in the food court, there are plenty of other options to choose from should you not like the vibe. Unfortunately Bar Cón is the only one with an out door terrace. As Bar Cón is relatively new and don with style the place is quite talked about at the moment. Good for: A bite to eat and relaxing drinks amidst your after shopping. 
  • B. The Ateljee Bar @ Torni. A classic rooftop bar that’s been around for ages, arguably offers the best view (360) of the city, out of this list. Its kind of small so you may find yourself having trouble finding a seat but if you can manage it its definitely wortha visit. Also offer arguably the best toilet experience (also with a view) of the list. Good for: Atmospheric late afternoon or early evening drinks with a view (no food served)
  • C. Restaurant Loiste @ Sokos department store. A full service restaurant and bar overlooking the railway station plus Kamppi and Forum shopping centers. The decor and architecture give the place a distinct vibe and the view makes the trip upstairs worth it. Great specially for its central location. Good for: Lunch and dinner or evening drinks.
  • D. Stockmann Roof by Ravintola Teatteri @ Stockmann department store. The conveniently named terrace bar and restaurant is the newest addition to the list.(opened in 2017). Located on the roof top of the iconic Stockmann department store in one of the city’s arguably most central locations. The views are great and the area is spacious. Good for: Sushi and drinks after a hard day of sightseeing or shopping.
